DESCRIPTION OF EDIBLE OIL PRODUCTION PROCESS:

The edible oil production plant produces raw and refined sunflower oil and sunflower seed cake. Normally, it processes 80-90 tons of raw materials a day. The production equipment permits the processing of various other kinds of oil-bearing seeds. The plant has experience in corn germ processing and is the only producer of raw, refined and bottled corn oil on the Bulgarian market. Each consignment, after being weighed by the vehicle scales, is unloaded at a reception shaft whence it is conveyed for storage at the warehouse by means of an elevator and redler conveyor chains. Prior to being transferred into the warehouse, the sunflower seeds are passed over a PETKUS cleaner.
The warehouse is a single-storey building with active ventilation. The raw oil production process comprises of the following steps: dehusking and fractioning; grinding; moist heat treatment; single final pressing of heated grist; initial refinement of raw oil.
From the warehouse, the sunflower seeds are passed over a magnet by means of an elevator and a screw conveyor in order to remove trace metal, and then conveyed to a bunker situated beneath a couple of dehuskers with a cyclone. When dehusked, the seeds are conveyed into a bunker and then ground into grist, which is then conveyed to the conditioners for moist heat treatment. The next step is pressing the grist by a screw press and collecting it into a mechanical precipitator to remove residual solids. After that, the expeller (sunflower seed cake) is conveyed to a separate warehouse by means of a screw conveyor, elevator and redler chain conveyor. The oil from the mechanical precipitator is poured into raw oil storage tanks form where it is pumped out and filtered.
